Modalities I use in sessions and have had training in include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Modality (CBT)- Emphasizes what is going on in the person’s life in the here and now, rather than what has led up to what they are feeling physically or emotionally. There is some information about and from the past that is needed and relevant, but the focus is primarily on moving forward to develop more effective ways of coping with life.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Modality (ACT)- Emphasizes on acknowledging your relationship with your own thoughts and feelings. You will begin to learn how to understand your feelings instead of trying to change them. The work is around framing your values and adjusting your behaviors to match them in a better way.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Modality (DBT)- Emphasizes on accpeting the reality of your life and your own behaviors, as well as helping you to begin to learn how to change your lives, including behaviors that are unhelpful. It is about learning and practicing how to manage and regulate your emotions, even the hard and intense ones.
